Know the email address of a missing Classmate? Click here to contact them!

Hello!  Although I posted on FB that we hoped to have the invitations out by the end of July, I then found out that the SSF (who mails them for us) does it within 60 days of the reunion date.  As of today, the invitations have not been mailed, but should go out within a week or so.  We have had a lot of reponses on this site, updating information, so thanks for that.

Here are some details that will be on the invitations:

  • Date and time:  Saturday, October 19, at the Bothwell Hotel, 7-11 pm.  We are planning to take a class photo at 7:30 pm.
  • Cost is $40 per person and includes heavy appetizers and a cash bar.  We will also have Chris Pace from the class of 1978 as our DJ.  Dress is casual.
  • RSVP with check payment by October 5, to:

Smith-Cotton Class of 1979   PO Box 2272, Sedalia MO  65302

  • We are planning a parade entry.  For anyone interested in riding on the flatbed, information is limited at this time.  We know that the parade is Friday, the 18th, at 3:00, and we gather at the First Baptist Church or the Post Office.  We will meet at 2:00 to decorate, 2:30 to ride.  Final information may not be available until the week before.  For up-to-date information with regard to weather, etc., you can check the social media site of the SSF.

  • The Foundation is planning several other Homecoming weekend activities, and these will be included on the invitation.  Paula from the SSF wanted me to point out that the tour of the old high school is very early on Saturday:  7:30-9:30 am.

Welcome to the Smith-Cotton Class of 1979 website!  The main purpose of this site is to locate classmates who are "missing", which means that the Sedalia School District Foundation does not have a valid address.  Please take a few minutes to view the list and check your own address, and also see if you are in contact with anyone on the list, even if it's only through Facebook. If you are, please give them this website address so that they can provide their information if they choose. Your address will remain private, and if you are interested in the reunion but do not want to create a profile, you can email the committee by clicking the "Contact Us" tab.

The planning has begun, and we have a few details.  The reunion will be Saturday, October 19 (Homecoming weekend), at the Bothwell Hotel.  Our gracious classmate, David Furnell, is waiving the rental fee so that we will have only food costs to cover for the venue.  We will be mailing out save the dates, and then the actual invitations once we have finalized the cost and hopefully had some success in locating more classmates.  The hotel is also holding a block of rooms for our class if you need lodging.

Because it is Homecoming weekend, we have discussed the possibility of riding in the parade if we can locate a large wagon and someone to pull us!  Given our past history with floats, we will not make that attempt.
